JOURNEY 1

Airport → Patong / Karon / Kata

Smart Bus: ฿100 flat

1. After arrivals, follow signs out of the terminal and look for the Phuket Smart Bus stop.
2. Check that the bus is running towards the west-coast beaches / Rawai direction.
3. Check the stop nearest your stay. The bus is not door-to-door, so you may still walk or take a short local ride.
4. Traffic changes journey time. Do not plan a tight connection around the timetable.

Best for: Solo travellers or backpackers with manageable luggage.

Think twice: 3–4 friends, parents/kids, heavy luggage or late arrival: compare a car/transfer first.

JOURNEY 2

Airport → Phuket Old Town

Airport Bus 8411: distance-based

1. Use the Airport Bus when Phuket Town is actually your destination.
2. Do not board it assuming it will conveniently take you to Patong, Kata or Karon.
3. From Town, your onward beach journey is a separate ride.

Best for: Old Town stays and value-focused travellers.

Think twice: For a west-coast beach hotel, a direct option is usually easier.

JOURNEY 3

Phuket Town ↔ Patong

Smart Bus route: ฿50 flat

1. Use it when your day genuinely connects Town and Patong.
2. Check the current timetable before leaving.
3. Allow extra time because Phuket traffic can make scheduled times approximate.

Best for: Budget travellers who are not rushing.

Think twice: A group splitting a car may save enough time to justify the extra cost.

Solo

Shared/public transport can save money when the route fits your day.

Couple

Compare two individual fares with one app car or taxi.

3–4 friends

Split the total car price. Separate cheap fares are not always cheaper together.

Family + parents/kids

Fewer changes usually matter more when there is luggage, heat or tired travellers.

A cheaper hotel can cost more overall if you keep paying for long rides. Stay close to the places you will actually use.
