Editorial Policy
Our job is to help travellers make decisions, not to make every place sound amazing.
How we research
We combine first-hand travel and group-management experience with official sources, current provider information and strong local or traveller evidence. For immigration, customs, park rules, transport rules and other legal or safety-sensitive information, official sources take priority wherever available.
Our evidence hierarchy
Official authority or operator information comes first for rules, fees and formal requirements. On-ground Backpack Stays experience can explain how a journey works in practice. Strong local evidence and traveller consensus can add context, but we do not present community anecdotes as law.
Prices, timings and changing information
Travel prices, exchange rates, opening hours, routes, weather restrictions and entry rules change. We use approximate planning prices where appropriate and date important volatile information when practical. Always recheck critical details before paying or travelling.
Recommendations and verdicts
Famous does not automatically mean recommended. We consider value, time, location, traveller type, convenience and trade-offs. A recommendation can change when the traveller, season or trip plan changes.
Corrections
If you find something outdated or wrong, email hello@backpackstays.com. We review useful corrections and update the relevant source data rather than hiding an error.
Commercial independence
Affiliate partnerships may be added in the future. A commercial relationship will not buy a positive verdict. Sponsored or affiliate relationships will be disclosed clearly where they are relevant.
AI and editorial review
Technology may assist research, organisation, drafting or consistency checks. Important travel claims are intended to be reviewed against appropriate sources before publication. We do not treat generated text as a substitute for verification.
